The Amazing, Unbelievable, Incredible (Trans)formation of Women's Sports
Every single arena of women's sports is being upended by the new norm
A lot of people are referring to this recent story of a transwoman cyclist winning a major cycling race as “cycling’s Lia Thomas moment” since it’s a very stark example of the blatant unfairness of allowing males to compete against females in cycling. They’re hoping that this incident will spur some pushback against these policies in the same way that the Lia Thomas case did for swimming.
What baffles me about this response is why this particular incident is prompting this reaction, since as anyone who has been paying attention to this issue knows very well, there are instances of males winning female competitions every single week. In fact, the male who won this race has already taken top prizes in many other women’s races in the past! (For example here, here, here, here, and here.) Numerous Twitter accounts and websites have been regularly documenting these cases for a while now, so I’m really confused why people are suddenly taking notice of this one case and saying, “Oh, now we have to do something about this!”
In any case, I understand that most normies aren’t aware of how widespread this issue is so I thought it would be worthwhile to gather together some of these egregious cases in order to highlight the problem and maybe give a single point of reference for people to educate their well-meaning, but clueless, friends about what has been happening in women’s sports the past few years.
A key point to understand about this is that the presence of males competing against females is not just a thing that is happening in the more well known arenas, like swimming (most infamously with the case of Lia Thomas) or cycling. It’s happening in practically every single sport, from mainstream ones to obscure ones, from the professional leagues to amateur ones, to high schools (another case here1 and here2), to middle school level. Here’s a case of it even happening in an elementary school to a 9-year-old. It’s happening also in power lifting, track and field, MMA, handball, disc golf, American football, Australian football, golf (also this3), skimo, rowing, rugby (also here4), cricket, boxing, surfing in Australia, surfing in the USA, wrestling, skateboarding (again), judo, hockey, dodgeball, BMX, archery, tennis, roller derby, soccer, volleyball, pool5, beach handball, shotput6, darts7 (also here), mountain biking, softball, basketball, pickleball, fencing8 (also here9), water polo10, chess11, jiu jitsu12 (also here13), croquet14, fishing15… every sport you can imagine is being affected by this issue, with male players first just entering the women’s leagues, and then taking coveted spots, and then eventually winning awards and prizes meant for the women.
Every one of those links in the prior paragraph highlights an instance of the issue in that particular sport, and there are many more, but below I’m going to focus specifically on a few key sports arenas that are especially affected by this. Many of these cases are screenshotted from Twitter accounts and websites that are dedicated to tracking this stuff (@i_heart__bikes, @icons_women, @ripx4nutmeg, Reduxx), so I encourage you to follow them directly. They deserve recognition for trying to raise awareness about this scandal. I also want to bring attention to this regularly updated twitter thread in particular because it shows how low the the transwomen “winners” were ranked when they were still competing as men. Another very useful site that highlights how absurd these polices are is Boys vs Women. But let’s get to the examples.
Cycling
Cycling is one of the worst areas to be affected by the influx of transwomen in the sport. To get a proper sense of how bad this issue is, it’s worth checking out these multiple threads of endless cases of males dominating in female cycling races (thread 1, thread 2, thread 3), but here are a bunch of individual cases worth highlighting. (All images below link to their source.)
A week before he won the Tour of the Gila that got everyone talking about the unfairness of it all, Austin Killips took the top prize at a different race, which everyone seemed to ignore:
Track and Field
Track and field competitions like the 1500 meter, hurdles, and city marathons are increasingly seeing transwomen enter into women’s competitions. Here are a few examples:
Weight lifting
If there’s any sports arena where it would seem self-evident just how much an advantage males have over females, it’s weight lifting. Yet, here too, transwomen are stealing medals away from the real winners.
Aside from stealing top prizes and spots from women, another concern with male players in female leagues is the increased risk of injury to the women. This has in fact occurred already in various situations, as documented in these articles:
Ignoring Biological Reality Puts Female Hockey Players at Risk
Too strong trans players in women’s rugby are driving referees away
I’ll end this depressing compilation with a link to this brilliant South Park segment which captured our era’s insanity better than a million scathing op-eds.
